About

In 2020, Chris was laid off from work due to Covid. After moving back home to Dubuque, he heard a news story about a man building computers from donated parts for people in need. Needing a hobby and having experience in building computers, he started a similar project. So Reboot was born.

The idea is to squeeze some extra life out of old, slow computers. First, by refurbishing them. Second, by adding a faster, Linux-based operating system. Linux is like Mac or Windows, but instead of being a product of one company, it's the result of people around the world freely sharing and contributing. Since it's free, and makes old, slow computers run faster, it's a good solution. The ideals behind it are nice, too.

Right now, Reboot is a tiny, family project run from home here in Dubuque during this awful pandemic. So far, we've been successful in using our neighbors' cast-offs to help people who need them. Thank you for helping us help others.

Donations may be picked up or dropped off... safely outdoors, of course... by appointment, right here in Dubuque.
